RUNNING HEAD: ARGUMENTATION AND COLLABORATION The purpose of this paper is to identify key issues based on lectures and readings done from this past week. From the readings, the main focus for the week dealt with Argumentation and Collaboration. If in any situation, how would the argument be constructed and supported, how to explain the way perception will affect decision-making, and lastly explain the importance of having clear communication in business. Argumentation Argumentation deals with learning persuasive techniques of how to convince someone to think or act in a particular way. Robbins and Judge (2007) tells us that â€Å"an idea, no matter how great, is useless until it is transmitted and understood by others† according to chapter 11 (Organizational Behavior). Without the function of communication, it is impossible for anything to go on; nothing will exist. In order for communication to take place, it must be a phase of transmission of meaning from one person to another and the meaning must be understood. The most useful concept or idea is communication. Communication is what makes things or break things. The effectiveness of how the well the communication is will determine the outcome of any situation. Anyone can communicate, but as stated before, there must be transmission and meaning. Realistically, all of the concepts and issues relate to the organization. Everyday, argumentation is performed. Why do you feel this is adequate for the company? Not only argumentation, but decisions are made throughout the entirety of the day. Have the decisions been thought out? Will this solve the problem or make a difference? Lastly, there is communication. Communication will determine to what extent the work will get completed, and how well information was perceived. All of these aspects are essential in an organization and helps make the organization better place.
